Privacy policy

Short version: your money records are yours. We don't sell them, show ads or share them, and SMS and notifications are read on your phone only.
1. Who we are
BudLedger is an Android app owned and run by Abhishek RJ, trading as Ebby_Blaite (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what personal data BudLedger handles, why, and the choices you have. It applies to the app (both the version on Google Play and the version shared directly) and to this website.
2. What we collect

We don't collect your contacts, location, call logs, photos (other than a bill you choose to scan), or advertising IDs.
3. SMS, notifications, microphone and camera
- Bank SMS (version shared directly only): if you switch it on, BudLedger reads bank and UPI SMS on your phone to spot payments. Messages are read on the phone and never uploaded; only the entries you choose to add are saved.
- Payment notifications (Google Play version): if you allow notification access, BudLedger reads notifications from payment and bank apps on your phone to spot payments. They are never uploaded. You can turn this off any time in Android settings.
- Microphone: used only while you speak an entry. Speech is turned into text by your phone's speech service (Google); we don't keep recordings.
- Camera / photos: used only when you scan a bill. The text is read on your phone (Google ML Kit); the photo stays on your phone unless you attach it to an entry.
- Alarms and reminders: used to remind you of dues at the right time. Nothing is sent anywhere.
4. How we use your data
- To provide the app's features and back up your records.
- To manage your membership and payments.
- To answer your questions and fix problems.
- To keep the app secure and stop misuse.
We do not sell your data, show ads, build advertising profiles, or use your records to train AI models.
5. Who we share it with
Only these service providers, only to run the app, under their own security and privacy terms:
- Google — Firebase (sign-in, database, crash reports), speech recognition, ML Kit, and Google Play billing for the Play version.
- Razorpay — payments in the version shared directly.
- Email delivery — only for the handover emails you set up.
Share prices, mutual fund NAVs and gold rates are fetched from public sources; no personal data is sent with those requests. We may disclose data if the law requires it (for example, a valid order from a court or government authority).
6. How long we keep it
Your records stay as long as you have an account. When you delete your account, your records are removed from your phone and from our cloud straight away, and from backups within 30 days. Payment records are kept for up to 8 years because tax and accounting laws require it. Crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
7. Security
Data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS/TLS) and is stored encrypted by Google. Database rules let only you read your own records. The app offers a PIN / fingerprint lock, hides its screens from the recent-apps view when locked, turns off Android device backups of your data, and refuses to run if it has been tampered with. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your data and will tell you if a breach affects you.
8. Your rights and choices
Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can:
- See and export your data — Settings › Data & backup › Export.
- Correct it — edit any entry in the app.
- Delete it — Settings › Account › Delete my account, or see Delete your account.
- Withdraw consent — turn off SMS / notification reading, voice, backup or handover in Settings at any time.
- Complain — to our grievance officer (support@recurs.co.in), and if not resolved, to the Data Protection Board of India.
9. Children
BudLedger is meant for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect data from children. If you think a child has used it, contact us and we'll delete the data.
10. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy we'll update the date above, and tell you in the app if the change is important.
